Implementing Resolution no. 17-NQ/TU dated November 14, 2016 of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee on continuing to build and develop Thu Dau Mot urban area in the 2016-2020 period and the following years, the Steering Committee has focused on implementing the task of investing in the construction and development of Thu Dau Mot urban area in the direction of civilization and modernity, improving the quality of people's lives. Thu Dau Mot City was recognized as a Grade I city at the end of 2017, becoming one of 18 Grade I cities in the country.
Overview of the meeting
In the 2016-2020 period, the total budget expenditure for capital construction investment was more than 5,272 billion VND. In which, focusing on key traffic works, connecting to develop urban areas in the West and Northwest of the city, connecting existing urban areas with the new City. Specifically, the PPC has allocated provincial budget capital for 61 projects with a total capital of over 3,048 billion VND, so far, 29 roads have been completed and put into use. A number of projects have been completed and are in the process of being put into use, such as: City funeral home, intersection of Cay Me crossroads, Le Chi Dan Street, 1,500-bed general hospital, etc. It is currently implementing Bach Dang road (extended), Bung Biep - Suoi Cat, Suoi Giua drainage system; completing the dossier of proposal for investment policy of an underground tunnel project at the intersection of Cho Dinh crossroads (scale of 02 lanes) and Phuoc Kien 5-way intersection (scale of 04 lanes), etc.
The development of urban green areas, increasing public space to serve the community are focused by the city. Up to now, the city has taken advantage of the public land fund to invest in the construction of 104 parks, gardens and urban green areas to meet the people's needs for entertainment, recreation and sports training.
The city also creates favorable conditions to call for investors to develop housing, many residential areas and high-rise apartments have been deployed with a higher scale and quality than in the previous period, contributing to raising the average residential floor area ratio from 20.4 m2/person in 2016 to 29.89 m2/person in 2020.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - Secretary of Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee said, implementing Resolution no. 17, in the 2016-2020 period, Thu Dau Mot City focused on 02 basic tasks of construction investment, urban development and urban embellishment with positive results. In the next phase, a new draft Resolution to replace Resolution no. 17 developed by Thu Dau Mot City is expected to have 03 groups of basic tasks on urban development, smart urban construction and urban cultural and civilized lifestyle construction.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Mai Hung Dung asked Thu Dau Mot City to complete the report on the implementation of Resolution no. 17, in which it is necessary to evaluate the aspects that can and cannot be done, the advantages and disadvantages in the implementation process. Each task group needs solutions and a list of specific works attached. The city needs to focus on investing in key breakthrough projects, creating highlights and changing the face of the urban area; investing in synchronous infrastructure with regional connectivity on the basis of renovating existing urban areas, effectively developing and exploiting public land resources to become a place for people's entertainment and recreation. At the same time, investing in information technology infrastructure, shared databases, and application software in fields synchronous with the development orientation of Binh Duong Smart City.
