PORTAL - On the afternoon of October 18, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, met with representatives of the typical frontline medical force in the Covid-19 prevention and control.

Attending were Mr. Do Van Chien - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and leaders of Ministries, Central branches, 63 provinces and cities.

At Binh Duong bridge point, there were leaders of the Department of Health and representatives of Medical centers and hospitals in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that our country has experienced 4 pandemic waves, of which the 4th wave is gradually being controlled. In that context, the Government held a meeting with representatives of medical staff and doctors who had participated in the fight against the pandemic during the past 2 years, although it did not meet all those who had participated in the fight against the pandemic from the North to the South during the last 600 days.  "The Party, State and people fully understand what you have done during the past 2 years, especially during the 4th pandemic wave, which was very fierce with the Delta variant spreading quickly and dangerously. With the participation of the entire political system, the unanimous support of the people, under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, the medical force has made a very important contribution, being the frontline force against the pandemic, together with the army, police and other forces".

"At this meeting, we take the time to reflect on the fierce days and prepare for the new battle. There is still a lot of work to be done, policies with the anti-pandemic force are continuing to be studied and proposed to be completed, because in the past time, we have focused on fighting the pandemic, so the policy completion is still incomplete and somewhat delayed. The spirit of the meeting is to share difficulties and predict how the upcoming difficulties will be overcome", said the Prime Minister.

Delegates attend at Binh Duong bridge point

During the 4th pandemic wave, following the summons of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, hundreds of thousands of officials, nurses, doctors, technicians and medical staff in pandemic-hit provinces and cities and nearly 20,000 supporting doctors from Central and local medical units have stood shoulder to shoulder with frontline forces of the Army, Police and volunteers to volunteer in Covid-19 hotspots. The efforts, trying, contributions and sacrifices of physicians, nurses, doctors, medical staff and officials have contributed to restraining and controlling the pandemic.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long shared: "The team of officials, nurses, doctors and medical staff participating in the fight against the recent pandemic have made 2-3 times more efforts than usual. They not only have to perform difficult tasks because they have to save lives in difficult and deprived situations, but also face great pressure when the number of patients increases too quickly, having to fight for the lives of many patients at the same time. Besides, there are hardships when being away from family and relatives for a long time; working long days in an infectious and stressful environment. But those difficulties did not hinder the spirit of the doctors with the motto "considering the health and life of people first". The doctors all define "Not allowed to give up", overcome all hardships, are ready to take risks on their side, devote their best, promote creativity, unite and synergize to win the pandemic. Thousands of officials, nurses, doctors and medical staff have been infected with Covid-19, some have died forever while still full of ambition and burning desire to dedicate".

At the meeting, Government leaders recognized and praised the great contributions, self-sacrificing spirit and enthusiasm of all the medical staff and doctors who participated in the fight against the pandemic. At the same time, wishing the "soldiers in white" good health, promoting the spirit of solidarity, creativity and bravery that have been forged in the recent anti-pandemic work to always fulfill their noble tasks well, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State and people. The Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to 138 individuals who made many contributions to the Covid-19 prevention and control.
