The rate of urbanization reaches 80.17%
The implementation of the Program No. 22-CTr/ TU dated August 15, 2016 of the Provincial Party Committee on "Urban development towards civilization, richness and improvement of people's quality of life" has many advantages due to people cooperation with the high consensus of the entire society, which has had a profound and comprehensive impact on the urban development process of Binh Duong.
According to Mr. Vo Hoang Ngan - Director of the Department of Construction, in 2019, the urbanization rate of Binh Duong province reached 80.17% and is expected to reach 82% by the end of 2020 (39.2% higher than the average urbanization rate of the whole country as of 2019).
Urban upgrading and classifying are implemented as the schedule. Up to now, Binh Duong has 03 cities (Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An and Di An), 02 towns (Ben Cat and Tan Uyen); in which, Thu Dau Mot city was recognized as a first class city in 2017. The fact that Binh Duong became the first province in the Southern key economic region has 03 cities has created a strong attraction to the entire resources in community to participate in constructing and developing the urban become more and more civilized, modern and worth living.
Binh Duong also focuses on investment in technical infrastructure systems to meet urban development needs. Traffic infrastructure is built in a synchronous direction, reasonably connecting national highways, provincial roads with district roads, and at the same time connecting with the national traffic system and provinces and cities in the key economy region in the South. The traffic axes connecting the region are particularly interested in and directed by the province such as My Phuoc - Tan Van - Bau Bang; Bau Bang - Phu Giao - North Tan Uyen Street; to upgrade and expand Highway 13; to upgrade and expand DT743A, DT743B roads; Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc Street.
The implementation of planning and investment in the construction of new urban areas, residential areas with synchronous technical infrastructure system, expected land fund for social infrastructure has created the face of a spacious urban area and bring many conveniences to the people. Implementing the housing development plan for the period 2016-2020, Binh Duong province has more than 133 new housing development projects to be implemented, the whole province has about 288 housing projects as accumulated by 2020. The average housing area in 2019 reached 28.9m²/ person, it is expected that by the end of 2020, it will reach 30 m²/ person, ensuring the criteria of urban housing floor area. In addition, the province has attracted 86 social housing development projects with an area of 199.7 ha, equivalent to 3.9 million m² of construction, which meet the housing needs of workers working in Binh Duong industrial zones and clusters.

In particular, the urban renovation and embellishment that has been implemented in recent years contributed to improving the overall urban face of the province and improving the quality of people's life. Typically, the adjustment of the function of the former state headquarters into parks, flower-garden with lots of green trees and gymnasiums, creates more "green lungs" for the urban which is highly appreciated by the people. 96 parks and flower-gardens combined with the gymnasiums were built, renovated, and put into use in recent years, which are a great effort of all levels and branches in the province.
"Binh Duong New City"
One of the key points in the development of industrial, service and urban infrastructure of Binh Duong is the construction planning and putting into use of the nearly 4,200 ha Industrial - Service - Urban Complex. The Industrial - Service - Urban Complex has been selected as "key" to implement the project "Binh Duong Smart City" in order to provide orientation and motivation for the construction process of smart urban in the whole province. In particular, it is determined that the new urban area under the Complex will become a knowledge city, connecting the State - Schools, research institutes - Entrepreneurs, and becoming the workplace of scientists, investors, foreign experts; creating a solid premise for the knowledge industry and high-tech science and technology application.

The new urban area of the complex is considered as "Binh Duong New City" with a scale of 1,000 hectares, located at the center of the Complex. If the industrial zones are considered as "levers" to help Binh Duong develop in recent years, "Binh Duong New City" will be the nucleus of the modern, dynamic, sustainable and smart urban cluster of Binh Duong in the future. With many projects such as schools, High-tech Center, Convention and Exhibition Center, Green Park, Lake, Sports Center, Binh Duong New City is the premise for a city of science and technology, an international cultural and financial center in a green, clean and beautiful environment. Located in "Binh Duong New City", the Provincial Administrative Center Building is modernly designed, environmentally friendly, being the workplace of Party agencies, authorities, departments, branches, and mass organizations, which forms a complex connected with universities, industrial parks, residential areas etc.
In recent years, many potential investors and experience in urban development, high-quality housing, commercial centers ... have invested in and implemented projects in the Complex such as the world trade center, Sora Garden, Midori Park, Suncasa, Hikari etc. which have contributed to the pervasiveness of the area, improving the quality of urban areas and creating many good choices for quality of people's life.
