Binh Duong province enhances the cooperation with Sembcorp Industries (Singapore)

BEGIC- ​In the afternoon of September 24th, 2019, at Binh Duong Administration Center, Mr. Tran Van Nam, Secretary of Binh Duong Party Committee received Mr. Ang Kong Hua, Chairman of Sembcorp Industries Board of Directors in his working visit in Binh Duong province.

Mr. Tran Van Nam, Secretary of Binh Duong Party Committee highly appreciated the cooperation between Singapore and Binh Duong in the past time and Viet Nam – Singapore Industrial Park – the joint venture of Singapore and Binh Duong is the industrial park model of Viet Nam with 8 VSIPs are operated in 6 provinces and cities in Viet Nam.

Mr. Ang Kong Hua, Chairman of Sembcorp Industries Board of Directors expressed his impression to the province development and affirmed that Binh Duong province and Becamex IDC. are the strategic partners of Sembcorp. He hoped that Sembcorp could continue to cooperate with Binh Duong province in deploying its new projects including renewable energy, waste-to-energy, wastewater treatment and water recycling.

In the same afternoon, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong People's Committee also had a working session with Mr. Ang Kong Hua, Chairman of Sembcorp Industries Board of Directors. Chairman Tran Thanh Liem briefed the socio – economic development of the province. Singapore is the third largest investor among 64 countries and territories in Binh Duong province with 238 projects of 4.3 billion US dollars. He hoped that the cooperation between Singapore and Viet Nam in general and Singapore and Binh Duong in particular is more and more developed. Chairman Tran Thanh Liem also highly appreciated the contribution of VSIPs to Viet Nam as well as Binh Duong in last 23 years.

* In the morning of Septembe 24th, 2019, Sembcorp Smart Energy Solutions Vietnam (Sembcorp), a newly incorporated wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries has signed a joint venture agreement with Becamex IDC and Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park J.V. Co (VSIP) on applying new generation of sustainable smart energy solutions to Vietnam.  The tripartite partnership will see a range of energy and utilities solutions such as renewable energy, waste-to-energy, wastewater treatment and water recycling brought to VSIP's various integrated townships and industrial parks as well as other Becamex-owned industrial parks and facilities in Vietnam.The first completed project under this collaboration is a 51 kilowatt-peak rooftop solar farm atop the 12,000-square foot VSIP administrative building in Binh Duong province. The solar panels installed will provide renewable energy and lower the carbon footprint for this building.
