On behalf of provincial People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, I warmly extended the best seasonal greetings and wishes to all Vietnamese people at home and abroad, comrades; as well as cadre, soldiers and business community in the province on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet).

Despite of difficulties and challenges in 2018, Binh Duong province has successfully maintained its economic growth rate and gained good achievements in various fields thanks to the drastic determination and concerted efforts of sectors, business community and entire local people. 27/29 key targets have been obtained and exceeded.

In 2018, Binh Duong recorded an increase of 8.6% in GRDP. The Per capita income was VND 130.8 million. The economic structure of the province shifted in the direction of increasing the volume of industrial production and services with the industrial development index up by 9.79%. The export turnover made high growth rate and reached USD 25.258 billion, increasing by 15.6%. The import turnover hit USD 20.500 million, increasing by 18.6%. Trade surplus obtained by USD 4.7 billion. VND 50,373 billion was collected into the state budget which was approximate to the set target by the Government, up by 9% against 2017.

By releasing numerous measures to improve the business climate, Binh Duong was ranked third nationawide in term of FDI attraction with 36,541 domestic enterprises and 3,523 FDI businnesses capitalized at VND 300,978 billion and USD 32.3 billion respectively by the end of 2018..

The tasks of urban planning and developing received much concerns from relevant sectors.The project of Binh Duong Smart City was brought into full deployment. In 2018, Binh Duong was admitted into Smart21 and officially became member of WTA (World Technopolis Association). Binh Duong also successfully hosted the celebration of 20th anniversary of WTA and Asia Economic Forum (Horasis). These important events were considered dynamic motivations that empowered the position of Binh Duong to realise its plan of smart city development and internaional integration for sustainable development.

Also last year, with concerted efforts to overcome challanges for economic growth, Binh Duong focused all resources to develop its socio- cultural fields by releasing and applying efficiently social welfare policies, improving basically lives of the beneficiaries, the needy people and labourers.

For social order and security in 2018, sectors and functional branches of all levels brought into full play their prompt and proactive roles that helped maintain the situation in the locality, contributing to consolidating belief of people and enterprises. Party building and building of political system attained active achievements. The key task was to implement the Resolution of the Party to innovate, renew and rearrange the apperatus to work effectively and, efficiently for the development of Binh Duong in the coming time.

We are proud of what have been achieved in 2018. On behalf of provincial leaders, I applauded and praised the efforts and devotion of organizations of party, government and enntire local people, military units and businness community in the locality. I expressed sincere thanks to Government, Ministries, domestic and international organizations...for their practical concerns and prompt supports.

On the entrance to 2019, which is of paramount importance for the completion of 2016 – 2020 socio-economic development plan, with basic advantages, Binh Duong provincial People's Committee will be determined to overcome economic challanges to deploy effectively the key tasks in accordance with Resolutions of Government, provincial Party Committee and People's Council. Great concentration is given on sustainable socio-economic development in the direction of enhancing the quality of economic growth, accelebrate administrative reform, fight corruption and wastefulness, raising the transparency and competitiveness, creating favorable business climate for FDI absorption, developing trade and production, improving lives of people, asurring social order and security, boosting up the efficiency of external relations and expanding international integration.

In order to successfully implement the above mentioned tasks, On behalf of provincial People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, I call upon the entire local people, fellow countrymen, cadres, comrades, and soldiers, overseas Vietnamese and business community in Binh Duong to bring into full play the traditions of solidarity and determination to realise the targets for stronger and prosperous Binh Duong
