Binh Duong promotes Netherlands investment

​PORTAL - On the afternoon of December 09, at the Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province held a webinar on Netherlands investment promotion.

Attending at Binh Duong bridge point were Mr. Frank de Laat - Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Le Phu Hoa – Director of Department of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuan - General Director of Becamex IDC; Mr. Guido Van Rooy – Executive Director of the Dutch Business Association in Vietnam (DBAV); leaders' representatives of provincial departments, committees and branches.

At the Netherlands bridge point, there were Mr. Pham Viet Anh - Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands; Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Diep – Vietnamese Commercial Counselor in the Netherlands; Mr. Evert-Jan Schoustra – Executive Director of World Trade Center (WTC) Leeuwarden and more than 100 Netherlands investors.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Phu Hoa - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs said that in 2021, Binh Duong has implemented many strong, quick and timely measures to change the strategy to safe and flexible adaptation and effective control over the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on making good use of opportunities to promote socio-economic recovery and development. During the past time, the Binh Duong Provincial Government has been making efforts to accompany and create the most favorable conditions for enterprises to restore production and maintain the supply chain through dialogue sessions, contact with associations and enterprises to listen to and promptly solve difficulties and problems, create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises including Netherlands enterprises to operate effectively in production and business. Despite facing many difficulties and challenges due to the Covid-19 situation, the province's socio-economic situation still achieved some positive results, with many positive and encouraging bright spots in the context of both pandemic prevention and control and economic recovery and development. Binh Duong is currently ranked 2nd in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment capital, just behind Ho Chi Minh City, with 4,016 projects, and total registered capital of more than 37 billion USD from 65 countries and territories. The Netherlands invested in 42 projects with a total investment capital of more than 1.1 billion USD.

Overview of the conference

Binh Duong has established a bilateral cooperative relationship with two localities of the Netherlands (Eindhoven City and Emmen City) in various fields. The cooperation has been implemented effectively and in depth.

The representative of Becamex IDC reported on the construction schedule of the Science and Technology Industrial Park and the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City. At the same time, providing brief information about the construction of transport infrastructure connecting the region, the system of logistics, training of high-quality labor resources and investment incentive policies of Vietnam. In the development strategy, Binh Duong province will continue to implement the "Binh Duong Innovation Region" project with the planning of a Science and Technology Industrial Park, an innovative startup ecosystem, promoting the proportion of services, especially e-commerce, international commerce with the typical project being the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Viet Anh - Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands highly appreciated the three-house cooperation model in Binh Duong where Becamex IDC is playing a very important role, this is a model that has been deployed very successfully in the Netherlands. He believed that Becamex has been and will promote its full potential in this association to contribute to the development of Binh Duong. The conference held direct discussions between leaders of Binh Duong province's departments, committees and branches and Netherlands enterprises. The contents of the discussion have answered many issues Netherlands enterprises are currently very interested in when investing in Binh Duong.

On behalf of Netherlands enterprises, Mr. Guido Van Rooy - Executive Director of the Dutch Business Association in Vietnam highly appreciated Binh Duong's investment environment. He said that Netherlands enterprises manufacturing in Binh Duong have operated very effectively during the past time. Despite the complicated situation of the pandemic, the Binh Duong provincial government always accompanies and creates favorable conditions for Netherlands enterprises to both prevent and control the pandemic and operate in production.​
