PORTAL - On the morning of July 15, in Hanoi, the National Election Council held a national teleconference to review the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Election Council chaired the conference.
At the Binh Duong Bridge point, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization, Chairman of the Provincial Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Ho Quang Diep – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee; Mr. Pham Van Chanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure took place in the context that the entire Party, army and people were trying our best to emulate and strive to bring the Resolution of the Party Congress into life; implement 5-year socio-economic development tasks (2021-2025) and build a socialist rule of law state that is truly of the people, by the people and for the people; the people's trust in the Party and State has been consolidated and strengthened, creating a solid foundation and premise for the rapid and sustainable development of our country. The election took place democratically, equally, in accordance with the law, ensuring safety, thrift and very successful, really a great festival of the entire people; received the attention, leadership and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the unified, close, comprehensive and synchronous direction, and the joining forces, agreement, solidarity and unity of the entire political system, the support and consensus of the compatriots and voters nationwide.

As reported by the National Election Committee, the whole country has 69,523,277 voters; the total number of voters voting was 69,243,939 voters (reaching 99.60%). The election was carefully prepared, proactive, professional and creative with a high sense of responsibility. The quality of candidates to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels was guaranteed to meet the requirements in terms of balance, the percentage of female, young people, ethnic group, and non-Party all reaching or higher than prescribed. For the first time in 15 National Assembly tenures, the percentage of representatives who are ethnic minorities reached 17.84%, the highest ever and also the first time, our country has more representatives of 2 ethnic minorities with very few people (Lu and Brau ethnic groups) in the National Assembly. The number of female National Assembly deputies is also the largest ever with 151 deputies, reaching 30.2%, bringing Vietnam to 51st place in the world, 4th in Asia and 1st in the Asean Inter Parliamentary Assembly on the percentage of female National Assembly deputies.
Propaganda was widely deployed with focus and key points with many creative and effective forms. The organization before, during and after the election ensured the safety of the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control principles, the security and order situation was maintained.
As a result, there were 499 people elected as deputies to the 15th National Assembly (reaching 99.8%). Of which, 194 people elected deputies were introduced by Central agencies and organizations; 301 elected deputies were introduced by local agencies and organizations; 04 self-nominated candidates were elected as deputies.
The Provincial People's Council elected 3,721 deputies; 22,550 deputies were elected to the district-level People's Councils; 239,788 deputies were elected to the commune-level People's Councils.
Based on the summary result of the election, along with the spirit of seriousness, responsibility and caution, the National Election Council and Election Committees at all levels completed the confirmation of the status of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure. By this time, localities have successfully held the first meeting of People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure, and completed the consolidation of key leadership personnel of the local government. The Chairman of the National Assembly also signed and ratified the results of election of Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of People's Councils of provinces and Centrally run cities.
