Providing information on the socio-economic situation for the candidates for the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels

​PORTAL - Continuing the program of Skills training conference for the candidates for the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in the 2021-2026 tenure, on the afternoon of May 05, Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented information on the socio-economic situation of Binh Duong province over the past time and development orientation in the coming time.

​​According to Mr. Mai Hung Dung, in the period of 2016-2020, Binh Duong implemented the socio-economic development plan with many synchronous, focused and key programs and plans. Thanks to that, the province's socio-economy continued to grow well. The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 9.35% on average. Per capita GRDP reached 155.7 million VND, 1.09 times higher than the Resolution of the 10th Provincial Party Congress set out. Economic structure shifted towards industry; Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased 1.09 times compared with the Resolution. Budget revenue increased 11.2%/year. The total social investment capital accounted for 35% of the GRDP. The rate of urbanization reached 82%. In particular, the province attracted 11.57 billion USD of foreign investment capital, 1.64 times higher than the Resolution. In terms of social security, each year the province created jobs for more than 46,500 workers; the rate of poor households according to the province's multidimensional poverty line was less than 1%, etc.

From 2020 up to now, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a comprehensive and extensive impact on all economic and social fields of all countries. Following the Government's direction on the implementation of the motto "fighting the pandemic is like fighting against the enemy", being determined to realize the "dual goal", the provincial People's Committee has been proactive and flexible in operating socio-economic aspects, ensuring political security and social order and safety. The province's GRDP in 2020 increased by 6.78%; per capita GRDP was 150.1 million VND. The economic structure of industry - service - agriculture - products taxes less subsidies on production has corresponding proportions of 65.97% - 22.69% - 3.23% - 8.11%.

Although being strongly affected by the interrupted supply of raw materials for production and the narrowing output market, the province's export and import turnover both increased. Accumulating in the first 04 months of 2021, export turnover reached over 11 billion USD, up 46.8% over the same period in 2020; import turnover reached over 8 billion USD, up 30.6% over the same period.

After listening to Mr. Mai Hung Dung's presentation, delegates attending the conference asked questions about solutions to overcome the shortcomings and limitations of traffic infrastructure, traffic congestion, progress of some projects and works, demographic management, fire prevention and fighting, PAPI, etc.. The Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave specific answers and provided additional information on the province's socio-economic development orientation and tasks in the period of 2021-2025.
