Provincial Party Committee has the policy to bring industry production to North Binh Duong including Ben Cat town. Infrastructure was invested comprehensively with many modern industrial parks; arterial roads were expanded to pave way for industrial production to develop in the town. During the last 5 years, economic structure of Ben Cat has shifted properly with industrial proportion of 83.7%, services 15.73%, and agriculture 0.57%.

  

By this time, Ben Cat town established 9 industrial parks, clusters with a total area of ​​3,200 ha and 1,536 investment projects. Among these, there are 1,129 domestic projects with total capital of over VND14,605 billion; 407 foreign investment projects with total capital of nearly $3.9 billion. There are many projects from transnational corporations, such as: automobile tire factory of Kumho Tires Co., paper factory of VINA Graft Paper Co. (Thailand), beverage factory of Kirin Acecook Vietnam Co. etc. Besides, invested industries including electricity, electronics, mechanical engineering, food processing, wood, clothing... have employed high technologies, modern production lines. This ensures that local industrial production developed properly and a sustainably developing environment.

 

To gradually establish a civilized modern city, the planning and follow planning play an important role. Currently, Ben Cat town is adjusting the land use planning till 2020 in accordance with the current situation, socio-economic objectives; completing the overall planning of socio-economic development of Ben Cat town till 2025, zoning planning of 5 wards; appraising plans submitted by investors; planning lands along Saigon River; constructing houses alternated with ecological zones (Phu An Bamboo Village), river travel between Saigon River and Thi Tinh River, traditional areas (Southwestern tunnel).

 

The process from industrialization to urbanization is an inevitable development. The town realized the necessity of urban development in the industrialization and modernization process, especially when the town has absorbed a large labor force from other places. Local Party, government have paid much attention to urban development, upgrading of roads, installation of lighting systems on rural roads and urban centers. The project of improving the quality of urban renovation in 2011-2015 with the vision till 2020 was devised in accordance with local actual needs.

 

During 5 years, total investment in these categories reached over VND1,347 billion. Street hygiene are maintained; water supply and drainage, electricity system were expanded; over 99.5% citizens are using clean water and electricity from the national grid… Particularly, Ben Cat town has developed a green, clean environment; focused on fire prevention and fighting; promoted urban civilized lifestyle...

 

 

 

 

Although Ben Cat town gained many great achievements, there are still limitations, namely, the proportion of services in the economic structure is still underdeveloped. In the coming time, the town will continue to accelerate the pace of industrial growth accompanied by urban, service development, ensuring the harmonious link between localities in the province. Specifically, the town will strive for 5-year targets, including industrial production value increases 17-19%, services 30-32%, agriculture 2-3%; rearrange economic structure towards industry 78%, services 21.5% and agriculture 0.5%.

   

Regarding industrial sector, the town will focus on developing industries with a high domestic proportion, auxiliary industry, exported good manufacture; industrial development tied to urbanization, enlarging industrial - urban service network towards modernization, civilization and effectiveness; encouraging SMEs; industrial development linked to environmental protection, attracting high-quality human resource; creating an open investment environment to attract investors.

 

To accomplish the objective of accelerating sustainable economic development; industrial development tied to urbanization, services to ensure harmoniousness, in the 2015-2020, Ben Cat town set specific objectives for services sector to increase 30-32%, accounting for 21.5% the economic structure.

  

Accordingly, the town will focus on transport service development; enhancing commercial centers, supermarkets and markets in densely populated areas; upgrading rural markets, existing markets in the town; encouraging dealer network, good and service retailing network, lodging houses, hotels, restaurant, food services, recreation, sports, postal and communication services, internet, legal advice...; exploiting ecotourism, connecting with tourism network of neighboring provinces to create diversified products; exploiting housing services; developing banking services to meet development needs.
