Established and operational since September 2008, the Vietnamese-German University is the result of bilateral international cooperation in higher education between the Government of Viet Nam, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the State Government of Hessen (Federal Republic of Germany), considered a "lighthouse" project in international cooperation on education and training between Viet Nam and Germany. VGU was formed and developed with the goal of becoming a research-oriented university, striving for excellence in teaching, research, and governance. The university's training focus is on key technical and technological fields, as well as economics and financial management, which are Germany's strengths.
