Over the past time, the NDPC has received more and more attention from all levels, branches and communities; therefore, regulations and policies in the NDPC field have been implemented deeply and widely to grassroots levels and all classes of people. Propaganda and awareness raising has been carried out effectively, thus creating the initiative and positivity of organizations, individuals and households in preventing, avoiding and responding to natural disasters. The formulation of plans, options and implementation organization, mobilization of forces and means according to the four on-the-spot motto has been seriously performed and achieved high efficiency.
In 2021, the damage caused by natural disasters in the province was mainly due to heavy rain, tornadoes and high tides. In which, tornadoes caused damage to houses and structures, and tree breakage often occurred in the changing seasons; Heavy rains and high tides caused flooding of houses, rice, crops, and roads in the rainy season and the last months of the year. Last year, there were 21 natural disasters, causing property damage of nearly 55 billion VND.
From the beginning of 2022 until now, in the province, there have been heavy rains or thunderstorms with whirlwinds, lightning struck 1 person dead, roof ripped off, flooded houses and gardens in Thuan An city; fallen trees on power lines affected power supply in Ben Cat town, Thu Dau Mot city. In addition, it also caused flooding in the inner city and areas in Thuan An city. Property damage was estimated at about 78.5 million VND.
Overview of the conference
In 2022, in order to take the initiative in NDPC-SR, Binh Duong continues to consolidate and assign tasks of the Provincial Steering Committee for NDPC-SR in accordance with regulations; strictly implement the legal documents on NDPC. At the same time, organizing the inspection and directing the localities and construction management units according to their decentralization to inspect irrigation works, NDPC works, especially the works of reservoirs, dykes, adequate and timely water drainage before, during and after the rainy and flood season; detecting damage early, repairing and reinforcing in time to ensure the safety of the works and prevent inundation caused by rain, flood and high tide. Simultaneously, organizing the performance of on-duty, monitoring the hydro-meteorological situation, the situation of natural disasters, rain, storms, floods, high tides, saline intrusion in the province, advising and reporting to leaders for timely and effective handling of natural disaster situations, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.
Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the PPC Mai Hung Dung highly appreciated the NDPC-SR in the entire province in 2021. He suggested that, in the coming time, continuing to promote close coordination between lake mining and management units and branches and localities. Construction units, investors and localities have better coordination; It is necessary to have a unit on duty for works under construction to prevent that during the rainy and stormy season, there will be a plan for timely handling, limit flooding, affecting people's lives; avoid subjectivity, neglect, and effectively promote the four on-the-spot motto in NDPC. Along with that, focusing on speeding up the completion of works under construction to put them into use before the rainy and stormy season or have a plan to protect the safety of works under construction. Paying attention to the work of overcoming consequences, recovering and rebuilding after natural disasters. Branches and localities should strengthen information and propaganda, raise people's awareness in NDPC-SR, and ensure safety in the rainy season.
