Specifically, Tetra Pak will invest 1.2 million euros in the installation of a modern paper separation line with European technology at Dong Tien's paper recycling factory, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
This is the first time a foreign packaging supply company has invested directly in capacity building for the nascent recycling industry in Vietnam.
Mr. Eliseo Barcas - General Director of Tetra Pak Vietnam said: "Supporting the building of local carton recycling capacity is part of Tetra Pak's global strategy to create a low-carbon, circular economy. It also demonstrates our strong commitment to working with food and beverage manufacturers to take responsibility for collecting packaging after use."
The line separating paper from milk cartons with this modern technology is expected to nearly double the recycling capacity in Dong Tien to 17,000 tons/year; allows the production of high quality recycled pulp, qualified for the production of commercially valuable paper products such as napkins, toilet paper, and writing paper. Thereby helping to increase the purchase value of cartons and income for collectors.
With the improved quality of recycled pulp, Dong Tien Company will invest 2.3 million euros in a system of workshops and production lines for kraft paper - which is very popular in the world.
The recycling of used cartons contributes to encouraging the habit of collecting cartons at collection facilities and people.
"We expect that once it comes into operation at full capacity, the new line will encourage the habit of collecting cartons at collection facilities and people, thereby spreading to the entire society, creating an abundant supply for recycling cartons, helping us to do business more efficiently and sustainably." - Mr. Hoang Trung Son - Director of Dong Tien Packaging and Paper Co., Ltd shared.Mr. Tran Quang Trung - Chairman of Vietnam Dairy Association said: "We appreciate that a passionate and experienced partner like Tetra Pak supports the construction of recycling infrastructure and shares the responsibility of building a sustainable environment with manufacturers.
