Based on the classification criteria and way of zoning restricted areas as prescribed in Decree 167/2018/ND-CP of the Government and the results of synthesis, investigation, the project has identified the types of restricted areas in the province. Specifically, restricted zone 1 (areas at risk of saltwater intrusion, increased pollution due to underground water exploitation; areas with contaminated underground water sources or signs of pollution but no technological solutions to ensure quality), has been identified on the map and list: including 129 areas, including 16 landfill areas and adjacent areas, 92 cemetery areas and adjacent areas; 18 polluted areas and 3 saline areas.
Restricted zone 2 (areas where the ground water level is continuously declining and at risk of being excessively lowered), has been identified on the map and list of 20 works with excessively low water level and adjacent areas.
Restricted zone 3 (urban areas, concentrated residential areas in rural areas, concentrated industrial parks and clusters, craft villages that have centralized water supply systems and water supply services to ensure that they meet quality requirements, quantity) has been identified on the map and list: including 87 areas which are urban residential areas, residential areas and industrial parks and clusters with concentrated water supply.
Restricted zone 4 (areas with surface water sources capable of stably meeting water demand), as prescribed in Article 9 of Decree 167/2018/ND-CP, surface water sources must satisfy the following criteria: having the function of supplying daily-life water or being planned to supply daily-life water; having a stable flow regime, with a minimum flow of 10 m3/s or more for rivers, streams, canals, creeks or a total capacity of 10 million m3 or more, for reservoirs; water quality meeting national technical regulations on surface water quality of column A1 or higher. In fact, most of the surface water sources in the province do not meet the quality requirements, so the restricted zone 4 cannot be identified.
Mixed restricted zones (including overlapping areas of restricted zones 1, 2, 3), have been identified on the map and list of 129 areas.
