At the ceremony, a representative of the Ministry of Health said that although the vaccine source is scarce on a global scale, with great efforts, in 2021, Vietnam have had 105 million doses of vaccine and aims to reach 150 million doses to create herd immunity in late 2021 and early 2022. Particularly in this July, more than 9 million doses of vaccine will be delivered to Vietnam. The vaccination campaign is developed and implemented by Ministries, branches and localities on the basis of the concept of "the fastest, the most, the widest injection, ensuring safety, efficiency, fairness and publicity".

Speaking at the Launching ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, with foresight and finding radical solutions to get the country out of the pandemic, the Party and State have been determined to implement the Vaccine Strategy focusing on the main contents including: Import, technology transfer, research for domestic production and development of vaccines. The goal of the Strategy is to give free annual injections to the population to achieve herd immunity.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to coordinate with other Ministries, branches and localities, especially the Police, the Army forces, the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations to organize the most scientific, correct, timely, safe and effective injection. Especially in the coming time, when the amount of vaccines is high, it is necessary to develop appropriate storage, transportation, distribution and deployment scenarios. This is the largest vaccination wave ever, so there must be command, monitoring and evaluation of the situation, updating results, and responding to practical problems, the Prime Minister stressed. Therefore, priority must be given to equipment and facilities to ensure smooth, efficient and safe operation.
