Economic growth of 7.23%

The report of the Provincial People's Committee shows that, in the past 6 months, the Covid-19 epidemic continues to be complicated and unpredictable in the world and in the country. However, with the synchronous, drastic and timely participation of all sectors, levels and the business community, the people's consensus and response, therefore, the province's socio-economic situation continued to have positive changes and achieved many important results in the implementation of "dual goals", both prevent and control the spread of diseases, while promote production and business, ensuring social security for people; political security, social order and safety in the area are maintained and stable.

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased by 7.23% over the same period in 2020 (in the same period increased by 6.73%); in which: Industry - construction increased by 8.09%; services increased by 5.67%; agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.66%; product tax minus product subsidies increased by 5.89%.

Despite many difficulties, industrial production continued to develop stably. Businesses have been proactive in sourcing raw materials, changing approaches, and introducing products, so they have received stable orders. Industrial Production Index in the first 6 months of the year was estimated to increase by 8.23% over the same period in 2020 (in the same period increased by 6.4%).

Total retail sales of goods and services in the first 6 months of the year were estimated to increase by 10.4% over the same period. The average consumer price index in 6 months increased by 2.48% over the same period. Important export markets such as the US, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong have prospered, so import and export turnover continued to grow at a high rate over the same period. Export turnover is estimated to increase by 47.2%; import turnover is estimated to increase by 43.4%.

The production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 2.8% over the same period in 2020.​

In the context of complicated epidemic developments, Binh Duong continued to achieve outstanding results in attracting investment. As of June 15, 2021, the province has attracted VND 49,115 billion of domestic investment capital (an increase of 91.2% over the same period).

Up to now, the province has 51,916 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 492,000 billion. Foreign investment attraction reached USD 1 billion 407 million (reaching 78.2% of the plan, up 65% over the same period). Up to now, the province has 3,982 foreign-invested projects with a total registered capital of USD 36.79 billion.

Estimated budget revenue is VND 36,600 billion, accounting for 62% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and the Prime Minister, up 23% over the same period. Total budget expenditure was VND 6,000 billion, reaching 23% of the estimate, down 4% over the same period.

Taking care of social security, preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic

The Covid-19 epidemic is very complicated and unpredictable, especially the 4^th outbreak in the community in the province and many localities throughout the country, which has comprehensively and deeply affected to all socio-economic fields. The province has proactively issued many documents directing and guiding closely to each stage of epidemic prevention and control such as: Plan for epidemic prevention and control in the whole province; plans for epidemic prevention and control at establishments, production, business and industrial parks; vaccination schedule. At the same time, regularly organize online meetings with localities to promptly direct epidemic prevention and control measures in accordance with the new situation; establish epidemic control checkpoints in bordering localities etc. On June 22, 2021, the province issued Directive No. 10/CT-UBND to direct a number of units and localities to apply and implement Directives No. 15 and 16 of the Prime Minister. Organize vaccination as planned (to date 43,432 people have been vaccinated).
