As reported, in the 1st quarter of 2021, the provincial People's Committee focused on drastically implementing the Resolutions and directions of the Government, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Council on the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2021; urgently completing the strategic breakthrough programs of the Provincial Party Committee to realize the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress. Branches and levels fully deployed activities to take care of Tet for all classes of people. In which, focusing on effective implementation of social security; monitoring the production and business situation; regimes and policies on salaries and bonuses of enterprises for workers, the situation of workers returning home and staying in Binh Duong to welcome Tet.

With the synchronous, drastic and timely participation of branches, levels, enterprise community, and the support of the people, the Covid-19 pandemic was under control; the province's socio-economic situation had positive changes and achieved many important results, basically completing the "dual goal"; political security, social order and safety in the area were maintained and stable.
Immediately after Tet, most enterprises and workers returned to work; some key industrial sectors of the province have increased new export orders, so there is a need to recruit large numbers of workers. In the 1st quarter of 2021, functional branches have advised and introduced jobs for 17,186 labors, creating jobs for 5,829 people (reaching 16.7% of the plan); paid attention to management of occupational safety and sanitation, prevention of fire, explosion and strike.
In addition to enterprises with stable production operations, there were 255 new enterprises coming into operation. The index of industrial production was estimated to increase by 6.9% over the same period in 2020 (the 1st quarter of 2020 increased by 6.14%).
Total retail sales of goods and service revenue increased by 8.7% over the same period (the 1st quarter of 2020 increased by 11.7%). Export turnover was estimated at 7.7 billion USD, up 30.4% (the 1st quarter of 2020 increased by 3.6%). Import turnover was estimated at 5.6 billion USD, up 20% (the 1st quarter of 2020 increased by 4.2%); trade surplus reached nearly 2.1 billion USD.
As of March 15, 2021, the province has attracted 13,278 billion VND of domestic investment capital; accumulated so far, the entire province has 49,990 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of 456,000 billion VND. Foreign investment attraction reached 407 million USD (up 72% over the same period); accumulated so far, the entire province has 3,955 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of 35.8 billion USD.
In the 2nd quarter of 2021, the province continues to implement the "dual goal" of both preventing, fighting against and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and promoting production and business activities. Focusing on the implementation of tasks and jobs related to the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure; developing multidimensional poverty line in the province for the 2021-2025 period; improving the quality of human resource training, especially vocational training; implementing the planning steps of Binh Duong province for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Concluding the Meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Thao said that Binh Duong basically succeeded in implementing the "dual goal" of both effective pandemic prevention and control and socio-economic development. In the 1st quarter of 2021, many areas had positive changes, especially tightened administrative discipline, and achieved economic indicators, creating momentum for the 2nd quarter of 2021.
