With the efforts and determination of both the political system and the enthusiastic support of experts and scientists from the Netherlands, the Binh Duong Smart City Project was born and resonated in the international arena during the construction of Binh Duong Smart City.
Based on the model of Eindhoven (Netherlands) smart city, Binh Duong approaches the construction of a smart city in a way that is consistent with the dynamic and creative ecosystem characteristics of Binh Duong. Based on the model "Triple Helix" consisting of the State - Schools and entrepreneurs, which have been deployed successfully in Eindhovend city (Netherlands), the Smart City Project has affirmed the strategic direction of Binh Duong in the trend of international economic integration, industrial revolution 4.0.
Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Binh Duong Smart City Executive Board said that the construction of a smart city is not only the State's duty but also the duty of school, businesses and Binh Duong people. The province's project development also aims to implement breakthrough programs of the Provincial Party Committee with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents. To achieve that goal, key solutions have been outlined for implementation in the project. With this approach, Binh Duong is highly appreciated from partners in Netherlands and the leaders of Vietnam Government.
The Binh Duong Smart City project demonstrates the determination from many domestic and foreign resources, the new values of regional and global economy in the twenty-first century, reaching to service economy, high technology production, which create a dynamic, creative, connected and adaptive ecosystem to the world's changes, step by step towards a smart urban in order to meet the new needs of people and businesses. The project put people and knowledge in the center, consider cooperation and connection as the motto for development. The Binh Duong Smart City Project identifies 46 specific action programs in 4 scopes: "People", "Technology", "Enterprise", "Foundation factors" Specific actions can be flexibly changed from time to time, based on the general directional framework of project. The project also plans the Binh Duong Smart Zone to cover entire southern region of the province, in which the "New City" area under the Industrial - Urban - Service Complex is nuclear and important development, which step by step create a spillover effect.
Lesson learning from Eindhoven (Netherlands), the project has also identified step by step forming the "Triple Helix" model, promoting cooperation among local authorities, businesses, and schools in the province, and also flexibly connecting with other regions and inter nations. In this relationship, the State plays a general leadership role, promoting the dynamism, creativity and efficiency of businesses and institutions. The members in the "Triple Helix" cooperation will contribute to the common process by sharing their concerns, knowledge, ideas, visions and specific actions for future development. .
Gradually asserted position in the international arena
Implementing the smart city project in a synchronous and powerful manner as the "Triple Helix" model has helped Binh Duong to quickly transform and achieve impressive achievements. Over 2 years of implementing the project, in 2018, Binh Duong was honored to become an official member of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) and the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). In particular, in 2 consecutive years (2018-2019), Binh Duong was honored as one of 21 localities and regions with typical smart City development strategies in the world by ICF.

Horasis 2019 has further enhanced Binh Duong's position in the international arena, contributing to expanding Binh Duong's international cooperation relationship in all fields, especially in investment and trade cooperation, actively promoting Binh Duong brand. Continuing to achieve success in building smart City, in 2019, in Binh Duong New City, the Binh Duong New City Trade Center complex project (WTC BDNC) has met the criteria to join the World Trade Centers Association (including 330 members from 90 countries). This is a strategic turning point, creating a basis for a breakthrough in international trade and service of the province. The center is gradually being planned to make a strong contribution to building the brand and reputation of Binh Duong. WTC BDNC is an iconic project, increasing value for the region, becoming a global trade integration service center, attracting partners, investors, intellectual human resources, facilitating the formation of an international trade ecosystem, connecting trade throughout the region. Thereby, it is linked with the development of the science-technology industrial park, breakthrough in new technology, opening up many business opportunities for industries.
Raise the level of strategy
Following the Smart City project, Binh Duong province is forming the idea of building an innovative eco-system through the project "Binh Duong Innovation Region" - the focus in building the smart city in next stage.
It is based on research of development models in the world about innovation regions such as Deajeon - Daedeok Innopolis (Korea), Brainport Eindhoven (Netherlands), etc. Project "Binh Duong Innovation Region" is a completely new model, highly creative, in accordance with the reality of Binh Duong, applying and drawn from the achievements of the innovation regions. This is also the central content in Binh Duong smart City construction for the next stage, integrated breakthrough including Thu Dau Mot city, in which the new city is the central urban area; Science-technology industrial park in Bau Bang district with the location of working area and urban area; public transport, logistics , etc.
In addition, an indispensable factor in "Binh Duong Innovation Region" is the formation of a science and technology industrial park which is planned in Bau Bang district in order to attract multinational corporations, promote research and knowledge transfer, play a pioneering role for the creation of new means of production, less labor intensive and for increasing production of products with high value while focusing on scientific research and development, building a good living environment for experts, increasing labor productivity, gradually increasing the proportion of digital economy in the economic structure of the province.
According to comments of experts from the Netherlands, Korea, Singapore, etc., with the idea of forming an "innovation region", Binh Duong province is aware of strong effort.
