According to the report, in the first 6 months of 2020, the National Steering Committee 138/CP and the National Steering Committee 389 have successfully completed their assigned tasks. In the crime prevention, the Committees focused on directing the settlement of arising issues among the citizens, prompt settlement of complicated problems related to crime and social order, contributing to a decrease of 8.4% of crimes against social order. At the same time, the Committees investigated and discovered many major mysterious cases, especially crimes related to black credit gangs, gangsters, many crimes in which high technology is applied, etc. The investigation of crimes related to economic and corruption crimes, especially the detection and handling of violations in land management and public investment have been attached great importance for good implementation; many major cases were strictly judged, with the agreement and appreciation of the public, accordingly, the trust of the citizens is consolidated. In the first 6 months of 2020, there were 23,465 cases of criminal law violation nationwide (a decrease of 8.4% against the same period in 2019).

The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods have been synchronously implemented at all levels and branches, accordingly, many big lines of smuggling, production of counterfeit goods were discovered and successfully handled and nearly VND 11,300 billion (an increase by 83% against the same period in 2019) was paid to the State budget. In the past 6 months, the functional forces of the whole country have detected and handled 75,264 cases of violation (a decrease by 12% against the same period in 2019) and VND 11,291 billion were paid to the State budget (an increase by 83% against the same period in 2019); 1,128 cases (a decrease by 14% against the same period) and 1,346 subjects (a decrease by 13% against the same period in 2019) were prosecuted.
In order to achieve radical changes in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh requested ministries, branches and localities to continue organizing a thorough grasp and effective and strict implementation of the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, the Steering Committee 138/CP, and the National Steering Committee 389, especially the Prime Minister's conclusions at the national online conference on work summary in 2019, directions and tasks for 2020 of the Steering Committee 138/CP and the National Steering Committee 389. This work should be considered as an important and regular political task of all ministries, branches and localities and the responsibility of the leaders should also be upheld. For organized crimes, trafficking of human, drugs and black credit, gangsters, crimes of violations of regulations on economic and land management, illegal exploitation of mineral resources, smuggling, especially smuggling petroleum products, minerals, tobacco, sugar, sand, fertilizer, producing and trading in counterfeit goods, etc, it is necessary to conduct thorough investigations to get to the root and strictly handle the schemers and leaders, etc.

In Binh Duong, in the first 6 months of 2020,
the fight against smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods has been paid
attention, implemented and achieved important results. Functional branches
examined 5,140 cases (a decrease by 5% against the same period in 2019),
detected 3,690 cases of violation (an increase by 9% against the same period),
handled 3,615 cases (an increase by 11% against the same period). Total amount
of penalties and arrears was VND 272 billion and VND 883 million (a decrease by
7% against the same period). In particular, 165 cases of illegal trading and
transport of prohibited goods, smuggled goods and goods of unclear origin (a
decrease by 25% compared to the same period last year) were detected and handled,
and a fine of VND 1 billion and VND 256 million (a decrease by 45% against the
same period) was applied; 3,077 trade frauds (an increase by 12.9% against the
same period) were detected; a fine of VND 77 billion and VND 295 million was applied;
VND 192 billion and VND 460 million was collected; 18 cases of producing and
trading in counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights
were detected (a decrease by 48% against the same period) and a total fine of VND
358 million was applied, etc.
