Striving to complete and exceed the socio-economic targets of 2019

BEGIC - ​That is the direction of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Government Online Conference with localities assessing the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months and deploying the last 6 months of 2019 on July 4th in Hanoi.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of Ministries, Central branches and 63 bridge points of provinces and cities throughout the country.

At Binh Duong bridge point, attending were Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao - Standing Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Tran Thanh Liem - Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; leaders of People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, departments, agencies, districts, towns and cities.

According to the report, the growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first 6 months of 2019 is estimated at 6.76%, although lower than the increase of the first 6 months of 2018, but still higher than the increase of the 6 months of the years from 2011-2017. The agricultural sector faced difficulties due to the spread of African swine flu, so it increased only 1.3%, much lower than the 3.07% increase of 6 months of 2018. The fishery sector grew at 6.45%, the highest growth rate of the first 6 months in the last 9 years.

The average Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the first 6 months of 2019 increased by 2.64% compared to the same period in 2018. Disbursement of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first 6 months was estimated at 9.1 billion US dollars, an increase of nearly 8% over the same period. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services, international arrivals to our country increased. Exports reached USD $122.4 billion, imported reached USD $120.8 billion, export surplus reached USD $1.6 billion. In the last 6 months, the country has nearly 67,000 newly established enterprises, up 3.8% in number of enterprises and 32.5% in registered capital.

At the conference, leaders of Ministries, branches and localities focused on discussing solutions for quick and effective treatments, resolving existing limitations and prolonged problems affect the implementation of objectives and tasks. Accordingly, it is necessary to focus on promoting the geographical balance of growth motivation in each sector, field, locality, each major and key project; accelerating the progress of newly registered FDI projects in the field of processing and manufacturing; making good use of advantages from new generation trade agreements, promoting export of goods which are Vietnam's strengths such as footwear, textiles, and aquatic products; strengthening the responsibility of the leader in urging and speeding up public investment; continue solutions for prevention and control of African swine flu and prepare conditions to quickly re-build, restore, stabilize production etc.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thoroughly grasped the spirit of striving to complete and exceeding the targets assigned by the Central and the National Assembly. In that spirit, the Prime Minister noted that, with complicated international and regional contexts and unpredictable forecast, the requirements for all ministries, branches and localities are to be flexible and responsive, timely and unconvincing, to clearly define key tasks and solutions for each ministry, branches and localities on a stronger decentralized spirit, further promoting the responsibility of leaders, more proactive and flexible in directing and operating, mobilizing the participation of the political system, the business community and the entire people.

In the first 6 months of 2019, with strong determination, direction and administration of the Provincial People's Committee, together with the efforts, solidarity and unanimity of all levels, branches, unions, business community and people, socio-economic in Binh Duong province achieved positive results. Most of the major evaluation indicators of the province have improved on scores and rankings on the national rankings. Industrial production index increased 8.08% compared to the same period in 2018. Total social investment and development capital is estimated at VND 40,623 billion, an increase of 12.02% over the same period; in which, state capital increased by 3.13%, non-state capital increased by 16.33%, foreign investment increased by 12.42%. The province continues to well implement the preferential regimes and policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution, the poor etc. Only on the occasion of Lunar New Year, the province has mobilized from sources and spent about VND 499.5 billion to implement social security and welfare policies, increasing by 13% compared to the same period in 2018.
