BEGIC - The opening ceremony to celebrate 20th anniversary of WTA was solemnly held at Binh Duong' Exhibition and Convention Center.
Attending was Vu Duc Dam, Member of Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of Party Central Committee, Head of HCMC National University; Bui The Duy, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Ministry; leaders of ministries, Provincial departments and localities
International guests were Her Tae Jeong, Mayor of South Korea's Daejeon city, WTA's Chairman; Kim Jong Cheon, Chairman of Daejeon city Hall; Kang Beung Joo. WTA's General Secretary; Rob Van Gijzal, former Mayor of Netherland's Eindhoven city, Chairman of ICF; Head of UNESCO's Representative Office in Ha Noi; leaders of South Korea's universities; leaders of cities and localities and WTA's members.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Her Tae Jeong, Mayor of South Korea's Daejeon city, WTA's Chairman stressed that this was special for WTA's members to review and celebrate 20th anniversary of WTA's foundation in Binh Duong and to share experiences in building smart cities. He said that under the effects of the Industrial Revolution version 4.0, countries and cities are keen to fining out suitable solutions for developing smart cities to deal with environmental problems. Therefore, series of events of WTA Binh Duong 2018 would offer WTA's members with good opportunities to come up with solutions for common matters of society, to discuss and exchange for smart city development.
Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee spoke at the opening ceremony
Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee addressed the ceremony saying that the 11th WTA General Assembly meeting and the WTA 2018 Global Innovation Forum and other series of events in Binh Duong from October 10th to 12 would play important role in the development of Binh Duong.
With the theme "Smart city – driving force for innovation to develop sustainably", Binh Duong hoped the LOC, leaders, lecturers, scientists and researchers would bring to the forums with most concerned speeches, solutions and advanced technologies to tackle of the negative effects of industrialization, such as: environmental pollution, social welfare, unemployment….
Leaders of Binh Duong province expected to share and accumulate experiences from WTA's members to apply in appropriate style in the coming time.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam addressed the opening ceremony
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated WTA on the occasion of its 20th anniversary of foundation and highly appreciated the contributions to the development of the technopolis. He believed in 20 years to come, WTA would continue to make important contributions to not only the development of technopolis but the consolidation of friendship between peoples all over the world.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that science and technology, especially sectors basing on the platform of IT would take the world into new development stages with both opportunities and challenges. He hoped WTA would make great contributions to the development of the world and human civilization. He noticed a smart economy and city would go alongside with science, technology which helped to utilize social resources for sustainable development so that people of all classes could access to benefits of the science and technology revolution. One of the social resource would be knowledge which will be multiplied when being shared, One of the most important signs of knowledge would be the source of data and the most important data would be from government, businesses…The sources of data should be clear and it helped as driving force for researchers to produce innovative ideas.
The Deputy Prime Minister believed the events in Binh Duong and others in the coming times would be good opportunities to share valuable experiences and lessons so that WTA.s members could take advantage of the benefits of the science and technology revolution.
