At the meeting, Mr. Ivan Scalfarotto said, the working visit of this delegation marks a new milestone for long-term sustainable development between Vietnam and Italy in the field of footwear. This shows the deep concern of the two Governments towards the industry which is considered important and critical to the economy of both countries.

Welcoming the delegation to visit and work with the province, Chairman of provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Liem introduced about economic development and investment attraction of the province in the past. Chairman of provincial People's Committee said, although the number of Italian enterprises investing in Binh Duong is limited, but Italian enterprises have contributed to the economic development of Binh Duong in the past. He hoped that in the coming time, with favorable investment environment of the province, especially in industrial zone infrastructure, it would attract more Italian enterprises to invest in Binh Duong.
Also at the meeting, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the cooperation between ASSOMAC Association and LEFASO Association, especially the establishment of Vietnam-Italy Footwear Technology Center. This project aimed at improving the ability and contribution to the development of Vietnamese footwear industry.

It is known that, Vietnam-Italy Footwear Technology Center was established in July 1977 from the cooperation between the Association of Italy - ASSOMAC and Association of Vietnam - LEFASO many years ago, through the signed Cooperation Agreement, which is extended annually. The center contributes in promoting research and development of Vietnamese footwear products; training high-tech laborers, application of modern and advanced technology, to improve the quality of human resources and design capability of Vietnam's footwear with international competitiveness.
