METRO No. 1 extension
project is divided into 3 sub-projects including: the stretch of about 2 km
from Suoi Tien station to intersection station; the stretches about 6km from
the intersection to Di An Town (Binh Duong Province) and stretches about 8km
from intersection to Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province).
The research team proposed
two phases, including, the first section will be 2km from Suoi Tien station to
intersection (construction, railway system), adjust current infrastructure of
METRO no.1 accordingly and in Suoi Tien Railway Station, build terminal square
and works for multimedia connection at the interchange station. Phase 2,
stretching from intersection to Binh Duong and Dong Nai, regulates rail
infrastructure of METRO No. 1 and purchases additional locomotives.

Project map
Total project cost is estimated
at 21.234 billion dong, including 2.315 billion for first phase and 18.919
billion dong for second phase. The cost of developing terminal blocks and
multi-modal transportation works for Phase 1 and Phase 2 is estimated at 8.630
billion dong and is independent of above costs.
According to research team,
early implementation of first phase of project could save construction costs of
the extended 2km stretch, minimize the risk of construction safety and minimize
the impact on commercial process of Line 1. In addition, it is possible to
realize the idea of developing public transport orientation in area around
interchange station.
Mr. Tran Thanh Liem - Vice
Chairman of the provincial People's Committee unified proposal for the first
phase of the METRO No.1 project. In particular, People's Committee of Ho Chi
Minh City bears the cost of investment; Provincial People's Committees of Binh

chairman of Dong Nai worked with Dong Nai province on planning land
acquisition, compensation clearance; proposed Research team to report on
interchanges station with the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committee
of Ho Chi Minh City, at the same time, survey, demarcation of actual land in
order for Di An town to have land recovery plan and adjust functional
subdivision.
