At the working session, the CEO gave a brief introduction of the AIIB’s activities. The AIIB was established and put in operation in 2015 with a goal of linking great banks around the world to provide loans for infrastructure construction. Hence, the goal of the visit was to learn about the demand for loans in infrastructure investment and construction of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular. He hoped that with preferential policies, the AIIB will support Binh Duong in this field.
Tran Thanh Liem (first right), Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee receiving Chistopher Legg- CEO of the AIIB for Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore
Mr.Liem spoke highly of the goal of the AIIB and said that the province over the past time called for international organizations to give financial support for the province in the field of basic construction. Particularly, the province got Japanese ODA loans to implement projects on waste water treatment and traffic infrastructure development. The province’s demand for loans to realize infrastructure development projects is very necessary, so the province acknowledged proposals by the AIIB and will learn more about its incentives to get loans for the local infrastructure development projects.
