Ms. Nguyen Kieu Linh, Vice Head of Southern Region Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Director of Binh Duong Culture, Sports and Tourism Department and more than 500 Thuan An Youth Union members attended the event.

 

This year’s World Tourism Day (WTD) theme “Tourism and Water: Protect Our Common Future” aims to underline tourism´s responsibility and commitment to preserving the world´s vital water resources.

 

UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai in his official WTD 2013 message said that "As one of the largest economic sectors in the world, it is the responsibility of the tourism to take a leadership role and ensure companies and destinations invest adequately in water management throughout the value chain.” Rifai urged "All those involved in the tourism sector to join our global World Tourism Day campaign and continue to devise innovate solutions to ensuring sustainable access to water resources worldwide."

 

The high speed of socioeconomic development of Binh Duong has led to many negative impacts to the environment. The province’s leaders and relevant branches and departments have executed many activities in order to minimize pollution, especially water pollution. In recent year, Binh Duong Tourism has satisfied tourists’ requirements; their environmental awareness has been raised gradually thanks to propaganda campaigns.

   

 

After the ceremony, participants join in cleaning up along Lai Thieu canal; execute the campaign “Keep Hygiene, Do Not Litter in Public”.
