Conference on Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement in Binh Duong province

BEGIC - In July, at Lucky Convention Center, Vietnam Textile and Garment and Binh Duong Industry and Trade Department co- organized the Conference on “Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TTP) and its impacts to Vietnam textile and garment business”.
        
Vice President of Vietnam Textile and Garment Association Nguyen Dinh Truong, Binh Duong Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Liem, leaders of related departments, committees, branches and 20 textile and garment enterprises in Binh Duong province attended the event.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Truong Vice President of Textile and Garment Association, “the purpose of the conference is to deploy the principal contents during the negotiation of TTP and its impacts on Vietnam textile and garment industry. Moreover, Vietnam Textile and Garment Association will collect the ideas, suggestions, and propose the supports and connection between textile and garment enterprises in Binh Duong province”.
  
The highlight points of TTP is the strong liberalization of goods, exportation tax is totally effaced once the TTP coming into effect. In service, TTP implements the liberalization by the negative approach. All services are opened except industries in exception list. When participating in TTP, Vietnam textile and garment industry will enlarge its market to export its products to countries signing TTP with the importation tax level of 0% (while the tax level is currently is 17.5% in United States and 9.6% in Europe…), and also contribute to enlarge the market with the advantages including Vietnam is one of three textile and garment centers in the world, the destination of international investors and cheap labour.
   
       
        
Once signing TTP, textile and garment industry of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular will have favorable chances to develop
           
At the meeting, textile and garment enterprise representatives also gave their opinion, suggestions for TTP negotiation.
    
Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) is a free trade agreement among partners that was signed to aim establishment of free trade for Pacific nations. Until Mar 15, 2013 the number of economies participated to negotiate TPP increased by 12, including Singapore, Chile, New Zealand, Brunei, US, Australia, Vietnam…Apart from traditional contents such as good market, investment, services,…, TPP also mentioned some new problems like labour, environment, expenditure of government, state enterprises, supply chain association… In November 2010, Vietnam decided to join TTP negotiations as official member after 03 initial negotiations as affiliate member.
