Giving the opening speech, Vice-Secretary and Chairman of Thu Dau Mot city Nguyen Thanh Tai introduced briefly the process of Thu Dau mot construction and development. In recent years, Thu Dau Mot economy recorded a continuous and high growth; economic structure: service, industry and agriculture in priority; the standards of living of local people have being improved considerably; the revenue per capita reached 49 million VND in 2011; social technical infrastructures are homogeneously constructed. Training and education, health care activities are always ensured. From these achievements, Ministry of Construction issued the Decision No. 115/DQ-BXD dated January 23rd, 2007 on recognizing Thu Dau Mot is the urban area-type III and in 2010, Thu Dau Mot meet basically the urban area- type 2 standards, attained 83.62/100 points. In the coming time, the authorities and people of Thu Dau Mot city determine to continuously construct the modern and civilized city.

Addressing the meeting, on behalf of Provincial Party Committee, People Council Committee, People’s Committee and Vietnam Front Farther land Committee, Vice- Secretary of Provincial Party Committee and Chairman Le Thanh Cung expressed the congratulations to the party committee, authorities and people of Thu Dau Mot city and highly appreciated the achievements of the process of construction and development obtained in the previous time.

He emphasized that the event of which Thu Dau Mot becomes city is the honorable pride and favorable conditions to central-governed Binh Duong city in the future. He required that in the current context of difficult economy, Thu Dau Mot authorities and people determine to overcome the challenges, take advantage of opportunities to construct and develop the city in all fields, deserve the role and position of the provincial political, administrative and economic center.
In this occasion Thu Dau Mot authorities and people have the honor to be granted the Second class Labour Medal by national Chairman for their outstanding achievements in the term 2007 – 2011, contributing to the protection and preservation of the Fatherland.

In addition, Tokyu Corporation (Japan) and Becamex IDC signed the memorandum of understanding in cooperation of researching and developing the bus, metro system in Binh Duong.
Thu Dau Mot city was established in the spirit of the Decision No. 11/NQ-CP dated May 02nd, 2012 of Government. Located on a natural area of 11,866.61 hectares and 44,277 people, the Thu Dau Mot city comprises 14 administrative units including 11 wards: Phu Cuong, Hiep Thanh, Chanh Nghia, Phu Tho, Phu Hoa, Phu Loi, Hiep An, Dinh Hoa, Phu My, Hoa Phu, and Phu Tan and 03 communes: Chanh My, Tuong Binh Hiep and Tan An. Thu Dau Mot is adjacent to the East of Tan Uyen district, to the West of Cu Chi district (Ho Chi Minh City), to the South of Thuan An district and to the North of Ben Cat district.
