Vietnamese Vice - President Nguyen Thi Doan paid a working visit in Binh Duong province

BEGIC - October 13rd, at Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park 1, Vietnamese Vice - President Nguyen Thi Doan and leaders of Vietnam Labour Union, Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs and Ministry of Training and Education worked with leaders of Binh Duong province about working and living conditions of labour at enterprises in the province.
 
Vice Chairman of Binh Duong People’s Committee Huynh Van Nhi and leaders of related departments received this delegation.
 
 
Until June 2011, there were 744,158 people working at the varieties of businesses in Binh Duong province, female employees account for 70%, external employees account for about 85% in provincial labour structure, in which nearly 100% employees of state enterprises, 79% of joint-stock companies, 74% of limited liability companies and 62% of  FDI enterprises.
 
Universities graduated labours’s rate were 5%, technical employees 13%, workers trained by enterprises approximately 70%, all rest were casual labourers and nonspecialist employees. Most enterprises cooperated with concerned authorities to implement regulation of labour code, 82% employees having sufficient conditions included health insurance, social insurance and 26.3% employees having body insurance (focus on some risky businesses: transportation, construction…).
 
Enterprises pay the wage to employees followed to the regulation. Labour’s average income including salary and allowance reaches from 2.5 to 4.1 million VND per month. In addition, depending on nature of the work, they also were received some supports such as hazard pay, professional allowance...
 
Labour’s standard of living gradually improves with 65% employees having motorbikes, gas ovens, televisions, 70% having mobile phones, 30% having computers, 6% to 8% having washing machines, air conditions…
 
Currently, there are over 200 enterprises building houses for employees, meet requirement of nearly 40,000 accommodations and 300,000 workers renting houses for living.
 
Besides, there are many problems in housing, insufficient income for cost of living….Many enterprises did not care about organizing activities to increase moral life, material facilities for employees and gave them advantages to participate in entertainments.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Vice - President Nguyen Thi Doan highly appreciated provincial achievements in looking after labour’s living conditions. She suggested that Binh Duong leaders need to promote inspection of signing labour agreement, building payroll to keep their mind on their work, avoiding the strikes, developing professional labour force, solving housing and have regular contact help them to promptly solving their problems.
 
Vietnamese Vice - President Nguyen Thi Doan and the delegation visited and learned about operations, policies on salary, housing for workers, operations of labour union of Showa Gloves Vietnam Co., Ltd. and URC Vietnam CO., Ltd. at Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 1 (Thuan An district).
